Last month on I Heart Romance & YA
Happy new month, Wormies! I usually post on the first or second day of the month but I’ve been busy – well, starting to be! I have work training until July which means there will be multiple travel trips for me around CA and Arizona. I’m so glad I got TSA pre-check so it’s a breeze when I pass through TSA.
Anyway, I was traveling the last month of April and I’m currently traveling right now (LOL) but I managed to read a few books. I’ve now been selective about the ARCs that I review so you will probably see fewer new books to review as compared to newer ones. I’m doing this because I really want to relax and read at my leisure. As I said before, I’m an extremely slow reader.
Because I was sorta burnt out, I reviewed 5 books last month, but I only wrote one discussion post! Gaaah! I read a total of 7 books in April, though. And that’s not bad at all!
The longest book remains to be The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty and the shortest is now Flow by Kennedy Ryan!
I seriously can’t choose between the two! Both books are phenomenal!

Did you guys see Avengers Endgame? I mean – WOW! I can’t believe that it’s been 11 years since I first heard RDJ say “I am Ironman.” I loved how the whole saga ended and I can’t wait for more! For a serious movie and supposedly sad last movie, there were a bunch of laughs – seriously!
Also, the final season of Game of Thrones is here and I have been underwhelmed so far? I’ve already seen 4 episodes and there are only 2 episodes left – and still, nothing has blown me away. Which maybe means the ending will be devastating, right? I’ve managed to get Pierre to watch this last season with me even though he hasn’t seen the seasons 1 through 7 (I made him watch the Screen Junkies Cram it video but I know it’s not enough).
And finally, we started watching Lie to Me and we absolutely love it. Pierre has seen this series already but he’s convinced me to watch it!
How many books did you read this month?
Share something great/amazing happening in your life right now or in the near future!
Also, do you watch movies or TV shows? What have you been watching? Can you recommend any good shows for me?

I don’t consider myself a particularly fast reader, either. And I really dislike feeling like I’m reading on a schedule or with a deadline looming over my head. Takes all the fun out of reading. I’ve yet to read anything by Kennedy Ryan despite meaning to for ages. I’ve been back and forth with GoT. The Battle of Winterfell episode was dramatic and I couldn’t look away. But other episodes have felt a little lacking and like not a lot is happening. I think my expectations were sky high going into this last season so maybe it’s just me.

Definitely read Kennedy Ryan – just be aware of the trigger warnings if you want to start with Long Shot – it’s a really amazing book but there are graphic scenes there – but they definitely needed to be in the book.
I’ve been a bit underwhelmed by the whole season 8 of GOT – I just feel like it’s just too fan service-y now and I think the characters are doing things uncharacteristic to how they normally act!
I loved Lie to Me and was so bummed when it was canceled! I don’t think I ever finished it.
WHAT?!! I know it’s only 3 seasons, though. Gaaaahhh I will slooowly finish this eventually!
I’m hoping the last two episodes of GoT are going to be nuts. I think people’s expectations are so high that the show probably can’t meet them. Have a good May!

I SERIOUSLY hope so!
I honestly still can’t stop thinking about Avengers Endgame. I loved the movie so much. I really want to rewatch all the Marvel movies now.

Same! I want to go back and see them in chronological order!
Hope all your travels are going smoothly! I’m way behind on GoT–I just finished Season 3. It’s been hard to avoid spoilers of this final season, but I’m managing it (for the most part). Sorry it’s not living up to your expectations right now!

I hope you are enjoying your GOT watch. It was a really strong series unfortunately, the last season just felt too abrupt and just lousy writing.
Avengers Endgame was amaaaaazing!! I’m still reeling from that movie. And wow! You wrote so many reviews so far this year! I really would like to write more reviews, but I always end up only reviewing the ones I need to for Netgalley ?

I’ve been trying to review more! I am really happy with the number of books I reviewed this year!
And I agree Endgame was amazing!
Lie to Me was so much fun to watch! My April was filled with reading ARCs for review and my favorite was How it Feels to Float.
