Don’t you wish that books go on and on and on and on and never end? Well, I have read a few book series that I wish would go on forever. I mean, there’s just nothing like reading about your favorite characters as their lives unfold post last book in the series, right? I know one author has given us bits and pieces of what our favorite (well, my favorite) characters have been up to since the last book was published. If you are thinking about J.K.Rowling, then you guessed right! She is just one of those authors that love giving us glimpses of post Deathly Hallows tidbits and gossip and whatnot.
Since this is a free Top Ten, I decided to list my favorite series that I wish would should go on forever.
The Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling has to be one of my favorite series (ever). I have read these books multiple times and still get that same feeling when I first read the books. Of course, I didn’t want the series to end. I mean, I still want to know HOW Ron and Hermione (my fave ship!) got together post Deathly Hallows. Who was at their wedding? Was Harry Ron’s best man? What gown did she wear? Did Hermione ever get her parents back from where she sent them off at the start of Deathly? These are important details, people! Oh, and sure, I want to know more about Harry, too. I am really glad that J.K. has shared us some tidbits in Pottermore but I still think that’s enough.
The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd is another favorite series. It is a classic retelling of The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells and tells the tale of Juliet, Dr. Moreau’s teenaged daughter. The series is a trilogy and ends with A Cold Legacy, a retelling of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. When the story ends, it seems like all is well and Juliet and Montgomery end up together. But, I want to know what happened to Balthazar. I want to know what happened to Lucy, to Sharkie even. My favorite character is Balthazar and I would really want to explore his story. I also want to find out more about what would happen to Juliet and Montgomery after their HEA. What sort of work would they be going into after all their experiences? [My reviews: The Madman’s Daughter, Her Dark Curiosity, A Cold Legacy]
The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare is one series that I wish went on forever. Now, not that Cassandra Clare hasn’t made all her series go on forever (what with all the spin-offs) but I specifically want these characters to be THE main characters. In the last book, Clockwork Princess, we are given a glimpse of what the future will be like for Tessa, Will, and Jem. BUT, I want to know what happens in between. Not that I liked the ending at all but I would want to know more about what happened with the main characters before that last scene in the book. I want to know more about Jem – what did he do as a Silent Brother? Was he invited to Will and Tessa’s wedding at all? Okay, now I know I am giving away spoilers but this series has been out for more than a few years already! [My reviews: Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess]
Legend by Marie Lu is a trilogy that I think ended too soon. June and Day didn’t really have their HEA (which is okay) but they were given a second chance and I want to know all about it. Did June and Day finally end up together? What was their future like? What was the Republic’s future like? I love that the author left the ending hanging but again, I WANT to know more about this! [My reviews: Legend, Prodigy, Champion]
The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost is my absolute favorite paranormal romance series (ever)! I am currently re-reading this series and I am now on book #6 – yes, I am that obsessed! Again, this is one author who has written spin-off series based on this world: Night Huntress (a spin-off from The Night Huntress Novels where Cat and Bones aren’t the main characters) and the Night Prince series (starring Vlad) where both Cat and Bones still appear as characters so I still get a dose of them. But I think that’s not enough! I know there are only 7 books in the series (and a couple of novellas) and I think Jeaniene Frost covered all the other details that I wanted to know but now, I am left hungering for more! Cat and Bones have retreated from the public and are in seclusion with their whole family and I want to know what is happening! Will they be content in their domesticity? Will there be baddies still out to get them? I just want to know more! I even want to know more about Fabian and Justina and even Don! Heck, I want to know what happens to Helsing, the cat!
Since this is a free Top Ten entry, I decided to leave it at 5 series (for now). I have a few more series in mind but I their series is not over yet so I will wait until that’s done before I rant (and beg) about wanting more!
I’ve only read Harry Potter on this list. I agree it should go on forever 🙂 The others look good, too.

I'm glad JK Rowling still gives us tidbits from the HP world!
I would LOVE for The Hunger Games to go on forever. Though I am glad with the way things I ended, I could have like, 20 prequels and sequels, and different POVs, and novellas, and yeah, we could make this last forever 😉 I LOVE this topic choice!
