Let’s talk about anything bookish!
I finally reorganized my shelf for the first time this year! I know some of you reorganize your shelves multiple times a year, but I am not one of those people! (But I’m honestly JEALOUS of them)
The process of reorganizing my shelf was a tough one. On a whim, I bought a new shelf and added it to the already two shelves in our living room. Mind you, we don’t have a HUGE space and we only have one big room which doubles as our living room/dining room. And now, it now my library! Naturally, Pierre was not liking my idea but he finally pulled through for me and assembled the shelf for me even (he also cooked a delish fried chicken dinner that night so I’m not complaining).
The process of shelving was twofold for me since I also wanted to add them to my digital catalog and I wanted to separate them from my Goodreads shelf since I wanted to catalog ONLY the physical books that I have.
I’m not COMPLETELY done yet and I still have a few shelves to complete but I have finished the first top three shelves out of the 3 full bookshelves.

This is what my bookshelf looked like before the reorganization of 2017.
So, what have I discovered when I was organizing this shelf? Well. Let’s find out, shall we?
I heart Historical Romance. Really.
One of the things that I noticed off the bat was the number of historical romance books that I have. It is A LOT. Seriously. If you have been following my blog for a while now, you will know that my favorite genre is historical romance!
I am a Lisa Kleypas FAN[atic]
Yes, that is true. Who would have thought that I have A LOT of Lisa Kleypas’ books? Obviously, I have one shelf dedicated solely to her books! Oh, and that’s not including Devil in Spring because I have it in my room for now.
Also, some of the Lisa Kleypas books that I have up there, I brought with me from the Philippines! Yes, ma’am! I have been buying LK since I was in college! Obviously, most of LKs books that I have are historicals. I now have a couple of her contemporaries mostly because my friend Crystal got me some!
Sabrina Jeffries is also my gal
Well. Who would have thought that I would have a lot of Sabrina Jeffries’ books? Heck YEAH, I have a lot of her books! I’ve also met her a couple of times now and SHE RECOGNIZED ME THE SECOND TIME! Whooop! It’s because I interact with her on social media and I’m also a part of her Dukes and Dames street team. Anyway, I have quite a few of her books. I also brought my well-loved copies of her Royal Brotherhood series.
I also included Sarah MacLean on this shelf since I have all her The Rules of Scoundrels series and her books fit on this shelf.
The Author that I haven’t really read
One of the authors that I haven’t really read a lot of is Julia Quinn. And lo and behold, I actually have a bunch of her books! LOL I know, I’m weird. I also recently read her Bridgertons series and I have enjoyed it so, so much on audio. I am already up to the 5th book now. I also went to one of her signings and she is so much fun!
On this shelf, I included Tessa Dare and Lorraine Heath because I also have a bunch of their books on hand.
I read contemporaries and paranormals now!
Oh wow! I do have more contemporaries on my other shelf but for the ones that I was able to organize, they fit nicely on my contemporaries/paranormals shelf.
This is also the year where I started branching out to
I will probably have another shelf dedicated solely to this genre. Obviously, I’m not done organizing yet!
My Harry Potter Shelf is ALMOST complete
I have another confession to make. For the longest time (since 2008), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was in another country! Yes, I left book 6 of the series in my hometown and I only just brought it back with me here this April! So finally, I can heave a sigh of relief and say that my 7 book collection is complete! The only thing that sucks is that I got the first 5 books as a set (4 books as a boxed set and the 5th book included outside the box), the 6th book was a box by itself (I got that here in the US) AND I only got the 7th book as a hardback because that was the only one available to me in the Philippines when I got it on release date. So it’s not matchy! #firstworldproblems
I also need to get the third illustrated book that is already out this year. Hello, Christmas wish list!
I still love YA
So far, I have 3 shelf spaces dedicated to YA. I’m not done organizing the third shelf space yet so I will leave you with 2 of them.
Favorite YA series
This shelf shows my favorite YA series: Throne for Glass, The Lunar Chronicles and Six of Crows.
Some of my fave YA books
Here is where you can find some of my favorite books. Also, did you see my high coveted Heartless ARC? I don’t normally get YA ARCs so when I lined up at Yallwest for this ARC, I was number 47 of 50. They were only giving away 50 COPIES!
Let’s do a quick recap of all the things I learned during this exhausting exercise.
- I have A LOT of historical romances
- I SUPPORT my favorite authors as evidenced by copies of their books!
- I have A LOT OF DUPLICATE BOOKS! Like a BOXFUL!
- I love HARDCOVER YA books
- I need more Funko Pops in my life
- I am a procrastinator
- I will probably not finish reorganizing this shelf by the end of the year. SERIOUSLY.
How do you organize your shelf? What have you learned about yourself when reorganizing?
Are you one of those people who reorganize their shelves multiple times a year? If you are, WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? I want to know!

Oh I like NEVER reorganise my shelves. ? Unless I’m forced haha! Like this year I moved house, so that was a forced-reorganisation although I swear I managed to put most of them back exactly as I had them, oops. I just really like knowing where my books are instantly!? And the best way to do that is to know where I put them. I also go by rainbows! And YES to YA hardcovers! They are life. ??
I admire those who can arrange their books in rainbow! LOL I would definitely try that someday!
Holy pages. I am drooling over your Kleypas collection. I snag her books every time I see them at a book sale! I’m glad you’ve branched out, too. I’ve been branching out this year, too.
I know what you mean, Sissy! I believe I still have some of her books back home that I may bring with me the next time I visit 🙂
First of all, nice job on the shelves! I have certain shelves on my bookcases that I dedicate to one or two authors. Other than that, I mix contemporary & historical romance and go alphabetically by author’s last name. I try to put the series books together. When I run out of shelves, I use stackable decorative boxes, also alphabetically by author. I have way too many books, but I can’t usually bear to part with them. I do a lot of rereads, too.
Oh nice! That is a smart way to find out where your books are! But I do like how others organize theirs in rainbow colors! I don’t think I can do that for mine!
I dont organize nearly enough, plus I don’t have room for bookshelves and that really bites 🙁 maybe I’ll make room for one over winter. I did clean up my own bookshelf recently. I also have A TON of HR books 😀 like swimming in them. I also have a lot of Holiday books and I love my YA in paperbacks because my son likes tearing the jackets of the hardcovers, so I end up with a lot of naked hardcovers otherwise.

Oh no! So sad for your hardback jackets! I take them off when I read the book, actually. I don’t have a lot of space, too so I think we will stop 3 bookshelves 😉 (I hope)
Yay for newly organized shelves! They look gorgeous! I especially love all your Funkos!
