Last year, I decided to list out the top ten villains. This year, I wanted to feature my favorite couples! Incidentally, most of the couples I picked feature a strong heroine with a hero that complements them.
Cat & Bones
Outtakes from the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
Cat and Bones is perhaps the ultimate power couple. I love Cat’s strength coupled with the alpha male vampire that is Bones! This couple is perhaps the best in the paranormal romance genre.
Briar & Knox
All Chained Up by Sophie Jordan
Another power couple that I absolutely love is Briar and Knox. In All Chained Up, Briar is the one that really helps Knox go through his issues after he is released from prison.
Isabel & Trevor
Midnight Games by Elle Kennedy
Although I am not such a big fan of romantic suspense, Isabela and Trevor’s romance really caught me from the first book, Midnight Rescue. Their story is the secondary romance in the first two books of the series and their romance stole the show for me.
Genevieve & Wolf
Searching for Beautiful by Jennifer Probst
Unrequited love is one of my favorite romance tropes, and Genevieve and Wolf fit the bill perfectly. These two were best friends prior to hooking up, and after a very emotional break-up with Genevieve’s abusive boyfriend, Wolf was there to save the day.
Helen & Rhys
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas
In the first book, Cold-Hearted Rake, Rhys really turned me off, especially after what he did in the end. However, there was also a glimpse of how their relationship started. In Marrying Winterborne, Helen really changed into a very strong woman and Rhys redeemed himself in my opinion.
Solara & Doran
Starflight by Melissa Landers
Where do I start with these two! These two hate each other with a vengeance until it turns into love. Yes, it is a pretty slow burn romance AND also a romance between classes, since Doran is very rich and Solara is pretty much a nobody orphan (although I think that there will be a Solara revelation in the next book).
Audrey Rose & Thomas
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
I love the quirky non-romance between Audrey Rose and Thomas. Audrey is her uncle’s apprentice (medical apprentice!) and Thomas is also his apprentice/assistant. I love the non-romance between these two and I can’t wait to read more about them in the next book!
Nina & Mattias
Six of Crows & Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
When I read Six of Crows, I was immediately drawn to Nina and Mattias’ relationship. Also, it is pretty much obvious that I am partial to Romeo/Juliet romances. Matthias is also sweet and sensitive and super manly and absolutely compliments Nina’s vivacity!
Zahra & Aladdin
The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury
One thing that a girl doesn’t want to be is a slave to a guy. And this is exactly what Zahra becomes because she is the genie to the lamp that Aladdin rubbed. But I swear, their relationship is not creepy! I love how their relationship develops into resentment to friendship and ultimately, love.
Elide & Lorcan
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas
Well, let’s not mention the
Elide-Manon arc that was totally blown in Empire of Storms,
but let’s talk about Elide and Lorcan’s relationship. I love how Lorcan changes because of Elide. This is another slow burn romance that starts from hate/distrust to love! I can’t wait to find out what happens to them in the next books!
Who are your favorite bookish couples? Or bookish non-couples?
I love Gen & Wolf! They are so amazing together. And Nina and Mattias. They made me believe that love can overcome pretty crappy situations.

Ohhh yeah! I was absolutely TORN by Wolf’s backstory and really happy that he found Gen!
Yay, book couples! I usually do book couples too, but this year I changed it up but I think maybe I might just do another post sometime, haha.
Nina and Matthias!!!! I’m ugly crying here. And yes to Helen & Rhys and Zahra & Aladdin! I really like the sounds of the non-romance between Audrey Rose and Thomas! Awesome list, Zeee!

Nina and Mattias… the ending!!!! I ugly cried there, too!!!
There where hints if romance between Audrey Rose & Thomas, but not too much! Can’t wait for what will happen to them in the next book!
Briar and Knox are definitely among my favorites, in adult romance! I could reread that book for days. I loved Doran and Solara in Starflight. And Aladdin and Zahra! Swoooooooon. Fantastic list, Zeee! =)

Yes!!! I actually reread All Chained Up a couple of times this year, too! Haha and let’s not start with Aladdin and Zahra!! ?
I really like some of the couples you listed. Rhys and Helen are superb together. Rhys really surprised me in that one. And Briar and Knox in All Chained Up weren’t what I expected and again Sophie Jordan did a great job writing those two.

I expected to hate Rhys after what he did in Cold-Blooded Rake… but he actually redeemed himself! Also, I have a very soft spot for Briar and Knox.. 😀
