Let’s talk about anything bookish!
Happy Monday readers and welcome to the #ShelfLove edition of my weekly bookish discussions.
Growing up, books were my best friends. I was also this awkward kid who didn’t have any friends in our neighborhood. The house I grew up in was right next to a very busy street (like big trucks busy) and it was frowned upon to play outside. So, anyway, I got stuck at home. Of course, I didn’t want for playmates PLUS I got to travel!
Anyway, I decided to pick the book best friends option this week and I am so excited to share with you my historical romance BFF and my YA BFF (because I just can’t choose one!).
Let’s have tea with Lady Bridget Cavendish
So, right now, I am soooo in love with Lady Bridget’s Diary by Maya Rodale, obvs because of Lady Bridget herself! She is the not skinny American who wants to fit in but can’t seem to remember all the rules of Brittish society. Oh, and she loves CAKE! Cake and COOKIES and extra cubes of sugar in her tea (naturally, when the Duchess of Durham is NOT looking). And she writes Dreadful Darcy in her diary! So yeah, if I were in Regency London, I would definitely have tea with her during visiting hours!
Let’s have hot chocolate with Celaena Sardothien
Earlier this year, I just binge read The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and bonded with Celaena Sardothien. I mean, come on! This is one chick that you would want to be on your team because man, can she kick ass. She is an assassin, after all. But despite her assassin-ess, she still loves cute things and dresses and CHAOL! I can already picture myself just hanging out in her secret hideaway chatting about Chaol and Dorian and just being ourselves. Oh, and did I mention it? She also loves chocolate CAKE! Do you see a pattern here?
I think I did pretty well in January. The only book I purchased was Stars Above by Marissa Meyer that I received last week! Eeep! Started reading it and I can’t wait to get to the last novella and attend THE WEDDING!

Aww I love the idea of book best friends! I have thought about this before, but I don’t know who would be mine! Like, there are bookish people that are similar to me- like Lara Jean from To all the Boys, or Vhalla (you know, sans abilities) in Air Awakens- but would we be friends? I don’t know, maybe not. Because maybe I need someone the total opposite of me- a Celaena, or a Johanna Mason, or whatever to be my foil. 😀

There were lots to choose from, but since these were the latest characters I connected with, I decided to go with them!
I have a sweet tooth, so I’d definitely get along with Lady Bridget! She’s just my kind of gal! 🙂

Celaena’s love of chocolate cake is THE BEST THING. XD I’ve ended up not so in love with the series during the later books?? But omg the first ones were my favourites and I loved how she was so into cake and dresses and books and slaying evil. 😛 EPIC.
Thanks for stopping by @ Paper Fury!
For some reason, I love the books MOOOOOOREEEE!! I am almost caught up, too! And OMG CHOCOLATE FREAKING CAKEEE!!
Ooh I think sharing some hot cocoa with Celaena would be quite awesome 🙂 Great picks!
