I seriously had deja vu when I was reading Sins of a Wicked Duke! This is a Sophie Jordan backlist book and I swear I have read it before! Well, I think I read this years ago because I couldn’t exactly remember the plot, but while I was reading it, I felt that I read it before!
I really love the premise – a spinster who is not of the aristocracy was fired from another job because she refused the advances of her employers’ son only to meet a rake who propositions her for the same thing! She doesn’t bite but ends up masquerading as a man and applied to work at his residence. Man, that took some balls! Pun intended.
I really love Fallon. She was an awesome heroine and I love that she took her destiny into her hands. She figured out how to find work and actually be left alone. I mean, this era really needed the #metoo movement. Fallon’s character development throughout the book was great to see. I loved that she was able to open her heart and trust someone after all she had been through when she was young.
Then let’s talk about the Duke! He is the typical rakehell hero that you love to hate. And yeah, in the beginning, he was definitely an ass. There were reasons for his attitude though, but still! I also liked the forbiddeness of their situation. There wasn’t any queer baiting here, which I appreciated, but Dominic seemed to warm up to his new “footman” and seemed to open up to him.
Fallon’s identity is unmasked a quarter into the book and Dom realizes that she was the girl he had propositioned that one night. Unmasking Fallon early on was absolutely perfect because I really don’t like queerbaiting.
I enjoyed the romance between Fallon and Dom and the whole plot, as crazy as it seems. I do believe that I have read this book before AND I think I own a copy of this, which is probably back in my hometown!
If you want to read a historical romance featuring a girl disguising herself as a man, and a forbidden romance, Sins of a Wicked Duke is the book for you!

Have you ever forgotten that you read a certain book only to pick it up and read it and discover that you have read it?
Do you remember the plots to all the books you read? If you do, I need to know your secrets!
I usually do rereads on purpose, not by accident! I have been keeping track of my books on GR and almost always do a review. You must have liked the book, if you finished it maybe twice!
I love to reread, Sharlene! There are just a few books that I read years ago prior to tracking it and reviewing it, so I have forgotten them.
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I actually have my eye on Sophie Jordan’s newest release! And I’ve definitely reread books by accident! It’s always the weirdest feeling when you realize you’ve already read a book before halfway through!
Yes! Sophie Jordan is one of my favorite authors!
I feel the same when reading books that I forgot I read before!
