This is a different discussion post because it is a little bit personal. Well, not in a personal PERSONAL, if you know what I mean, but something that I want to share with everyone.
I am an extremely emotional reader. And really, I tear up at minor things – usually meet-cutes! hahaha
But seriously, though. Sometimes, I DO search out emotional reads purposely so I can ugly cry. I have no idea why I do that, but I just do! I am an extremely emotional reader and a mood reader to boot, so both are a crazy combo! In fact, Mr. He Hearts Romance is so used to me bawling, he doesn’t even blink an eye anymore!
Books that make me ugly cry always make it to my favorite reads!
Here are a few books that had me ugly crying.

I tend to avoid emotional books just so I won’t cry! I really want that escapist, sweet love story in my reads. But sometimes, yes, I’m in the mood and I just need that…catharsis? That sounds right. Something totally safe, like a fictional drama, that I can have a good cry over and then feel so much better about everything.
I know what you mean! There are others who just don’t want to be too emotional when reading. I am just a sucker for pain because I seek it out!
That’s so interesting! I’m the opposite! I read to relax and have fun. I adore books that are humorous, and I don’t tend to reach for the sad or hard-hitting books in any genre. However, if I do somehow end up reading a hard-hitting book and it manages to make me feel something strongly, or tear up, it usually ends up getting a 4 or 5 stars because of how difficult a feat that is. In fact, I don’t think there was ever a book that made me ugly cry! My equivalent is a silently shed tear or two.

I know not all people like to read those type of topics but I do seek them out sometimes and balance it with other lighter reads to decompress 🙂
Shedding a tear or two is totally fine!
I love it when a book hits me in the feels. 🙂
SAAAAME!!!
I am totally an emotional reader! I loved Kiss an Angel – just read it for the first time last month. I also just listened to Wanderlust (Richard Armitage!) after having read it awhile ago. I totally loved Searching for Beautiful. Wolf was such a great character! As for me ugly crying, Jill Shalvis – Animal Magnetism, Rachel Gibson – Rescue Me, Christina Lauren – Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, SEP – Call Me Irresistible, pretty much any Lisa Kleypas book, but let’s go with Hello Stranger, Jennifer Ashley – The Stolen Mackenzie Bride (that one killed me!)
OMG! Thank you for the recs, Sharlene! I have read the others already but I’ll add Jennifer Ashley’s books on my list!
Also, isn’t that Wanderlust audio amazing?! Richard Armitage has a dreamy voice… I COULD JUST DIE!
