Historical Romance (HR) are romance novels set before the 1950s. There are many HR subgenres including Regency, Victorian, Medieval, Scottish, Western, etc. Arguably, the most popular subgenre is Regency Historical Romance, and it is one of my favorite subgenres in historical romance.
