I got The Opposite of You for free when it was on sale and I read it on a whim. WOW! I was delightfully surprised!
The Opposite of You has a heroine who is starting her own food truck parked across a 5-star restaurant featuring a Michelin starred chef! So, YES there is food, LOTS OF FOOD! I live in Los Angeles and food trucks are very popular here and I have tried a bunch of them, so reading about them is the cherry on top!
When I started reading The Opposite of You, I really didn’t know what to expect. But I just want to say that I was hooked! I am such a fan of enemies to lovers romance that I love the spin this book had of this trope.
Vera and Killian are perfect together! I love the banter and the sweetness! I also loved that this is a slow-burn romance because I think Vera needed to grow as a person and get back what she had lost professionally and personally. Killian was also instrumental in her gaining back her confidence, which I absolutely loved.
While I liked the banter and the relationship build-up, I really wish that there were steamy scenes. In this case, there was only one and it wasn’t as steamy as I want it to be.
Vera is a survivor of emotional and mental abuse, there are a couple of short scenes were her ex-boyfriend shows up, and a very short flashback of the abuse. So there is a trigger warning here.
One of the things that stood out for me were the secondary characters! It looks like they have their own books, so I am definitely reading them! I can’t wait to read book 2 because the hero’s name is Ezra (ahem) and the heroine is Vera’s best friend, Molly, who I absolutely loved in this book.
Another thing that I liked about The Opposite of You is Vera and her brother’s relationship with their father. I have this thing about fathers and when that is mentioned in any book, I just love the relationship dynamics – especially if it isn’t a great relationship. In this case, Vera’s dad is amazing!
If you love emotional books with awesome banter, and of course FOOD, I highly recommend reading The Opposite of You.

One of my favorites featuring a food truck is The One You Can’t Forget by Roni Loren.
This sounds like such an amazing book! I love enemies to lovers and I especially love books centered around food! I’m definitely going to have to check this book out!

Yes, yes, and yes! Since both hero and heroine are chefs, there is quite a bit of food mentioned here!
