Well, well, well! This was a surprise! Say No to the Duke really made me grin and of course, the feels!
This is the first book that I read in The Wildes of Lidow Castle series because I had a hard time getting into the first book, Wilde in Love. Anyway, I just jumped into the middle of the series and I WILL finally be reading the first three books!
As I’ve said, I am a fan of the enemies to lovers trope. I am also a huge fan of the brother’s best friend trope and Say No to the Duke features both tropes! This book basically guaranteed that I would enjoy it so much!
While I am not a huge fan of quirky characters, I love Betsy so much! She is definitely”wild” for a Georgian lady but I really felt her struggles. In that society, you are judged by the actions of your parents and she just wanted to prove society wrong. She is also hiding behind a mask of propriety, which makes falling in love really hard.
Jeremy is also an awesome character! He is suffering from PTSD and is an awesome broody and sarcastic hero that I love. He is also Betsy’s brother’s best friend and is hiding away in Lidow Castle because of his PTSD.
What I really love about Say Yes to the Duke is the banter between Betsy and Jeremy! I feel like the two of them were perfect together.
I have to say that I didn’t have a hard time following the series even though this is the 4th book, but I highly recommend reading the first 3 before diving in because I was really intrigued by all the side characters!

Do you read books in order or are you able to jump right in the middle of a series?
I always read a series in order, especially since most series I read are fantasy and I can’t miss out on world-building details.
Yes! I know fantasy books have to be read in order! 🙂
I love so many of the things you mentioned! Witty banter, enemies to lovers, brother’s best friend. And it sounds like it combined into a great book! Normally ‘m a stickler for reading books in the proper order, prequels and all, but with romances I’m way more lenient!

Yes! I guess because romances series can be read as standalones 🙂
Looking forward to starting this series. Thank you
I can’t wait to read the other books in the series!
I prefer standalone books because I usually don’t read a series in order.
I know what you mean! I also love that some romance series can be read as standalones.
oh whew!! So I wasn’t the only one that really struggled with book one??!! I thought something was wrong with me since I love this author and was so disappointed. But Now I will be grabbing this book up for sure. I love all the FEELS!!

Yes! But I am also so-so with EJ’s writing. I have enjoyed some of her books and some I didn’t like at all.
