Last month on I Heart Romance & YA
Hi, Wormies! I can’t believe it’s August already! As I said last month, I wanted to convince Pierre to fire up the grill, but it was just too hot outside! So that plan was a no go. However, I am hoping that the temperatures will dip when he comes home later in August.
I read a bunch of books last month and 9 books were rereads! Yes! I am in a semi-slump and while it sucks, I love revisiting my old favorites. I usually reread my favorite books during a book slump.
Did you see Lisa Kleypas’ new book Devil’s Daughter? Man, did they go big with the cover! IT IS DAMN GORGEOUS! Also, all that red hair?! Ack! I read the excerpt on Cosmo and I can’t wait! And did you see that Lisa is thinking about writing a Wallflowers NextGen series? I HOPE SO! She also said that Marcus and Lillian’s 2 kids will appear in this book! OMG! I am squeeing right now, and I hate squeeing. LOL
I read 27 books this month! So… did I even sleep?! Actually, I did! But this time, I was able to read even though Pierre was watching Anime! And we were also able to spend time together! I actually took PTO one Friday so I spent that time with him and that also gave me an extra day to read!
I also can’t believe that I have read a total of 122 books this year! This means I am only 8 books away from reaching my goal of 130 books! I am amazed, actually!
Melt for You was an AWESOME READ! OMG! I laughed and cried, sometimes at the same time! This was an awesome slow-burn romance read that I can’t recommend enough!

We FINALLY saw a couple of movies at the theater! I enjoyed Incredibles 2 and Ant-Man & the Wasp, but not as much as I did. Jack Jack was amazing, though! And soooo cute!
We rented Transformers The Last Night, but I wasn’t really watching the whole thing 100%. I guess the Transformers movies aren’t my thing? Although the Bumblebee trailer looks interesting!
Do you love rereading books?
How has your summer been? Did you do anything fun?
Are there any good movies I need to see?

I hope the weather cools down soon. Being hot sucks. Good luck with meeting your reading goal! I’m not sure if I’ll make it to 100 books this year. I’m going to try. I hope you have a good August!

I know! I’m a pretty slow reader and I wouldn’t have read a lot of books if I didn’t listen to audiobooks! Good luck with your reading goals!
I love rereading books! Which isn’t such a good thing, because then all the unread books on my shelf remain unread. Oh well. Also, congrats on being so close to your reading goal!
Yes! I understand what you mean! There are too many books that I want to read but sometimes, I find it utterly comforting in rereading my old faves!
My month hasn’t been the greatest for reading or blogging. I feel like a horrible blogger, but I am trying to take tiny steps to get back to how it should be. What a fantastic reading feat!! Only 8 more to reach your goal? AWESOME! I saw Hotel Transylvania 3, but I also want to see Incredibles 2.
Incredibles 2 is fun!
I also understand how it is when you’re in a slump. There have been times where I didn’t really blog as much as I should, you know?
I read a ton of books this month and I want to say like 90% of them were re-reads. I really enjoy re-reading and like you it helps me get out of reading slumps. I have seen the Incredibles 2 and really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen the new transformers movie but I want to say I own it? That sounds terrible, but my husband was watching them and I think he bought it but now I can’t remember. I haven’t seen any of the newer ones, I’ve only really seen Transformers 1 and 2. But I agree the Bumblebee trailer looks pretty good, I might check it out.
I hope you have a wonderful August! And I hope the weather cools down.

Yeah, you’re not missing much with the Transformers films. I think the first 2 were the good ones, and they weren’t really that great! LOL
Yay to rereads!
27 books! Wow! How do you do it? That’s amazing! I can’t wait to see Incredibles 2. I loved the first one. And I’ve heard how cute Jack Jack is in it! I, unfortunately don’t get to go out to the movies so much these days, but I hope to see it soon!

I basically don’t have a life, Sam… LOL seriously I listen to audiobooks on my daily commute and doing chores around the house 🙂
You can stream this movie soon! Jack Jack is really adorable! And even Edna! 🙂
o_O That’s a LOT of books! It’s so cool that you’re so clsoe to your reading goal. I always think about setting one up for myself, but I think it’d end up making me more anxious rather than help me get out of reading slumps..
I keep seeing Kleypas’ books mentioned and recced e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e, so I might have to check them out when I can.
I reread a lot! I buy books when I know I’ll be rereading them often, so I mgith be reading something new, but I’m *always* on a reread 🙂
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite historical romance authors! She’s a must read if you haven’t tried her yet. Her older historicals are classics!
It makes me smile when I read how you gush about a book as I know the feeling well. The Incredibles is a must see for me, but I will wait until it’s out on DVD (I have a difficult time sitting that long in a theater, especially if it’s crowded). I finally read another Kasie West book in July and remembered why I enjoy her writing so much. I also found a new another to me as I read Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins (she gave me my newest book boyfriends, sigh).
Aww thank you, Danielle! I didn’t like Anna and the French Kiss.. ugh so I didn’t continue with the series… LOL
Wow, nine rereads!! I almost never reread, so I’m always impressed with people who do. 🙂
