Last month’s deets on I Heart Romance & YA
Happy NEW MONTH, Wormies! Finally, I am ABSOLUTELY psyched because Pierre and I are about a month away from our short vacay to our hometown! YEZZ!
Now, back to reality! I am in a horrible bind, people! I need more fantasy recs, please! I just noticed that I have been reading about 98% historical romances, which means I am fantastically failing the Flight of Fantasy reading challenge. So, HALPMEPLIZ!!!!
Well, what do you know? I am now 25% in the Goodreads Reading Challenge! I also upped my review numbers! I think it helped that I wrote a few skinny reviews, especially those that I binge read and have been sitting in my to be reviewed pile for a loooong time.
Anyway, my Flights of Fantasy challenge is not doing really well. sigh* I already know this was coming. I have noticed that when I get fixated on one genre, I mostly concentrate my reading on that genre. I know, I’m stupid. *shrugs*
Well, would you look at that! So Wild A Heart by Candace Camp made it as the longest book read so far! If you notice, I have also read mostly 4 and 5 stars books, which is amazing!
Of course, I reread quite a number of books so far, so that does make a difference in the rating distribution.

When I first heard about this movie, I was skeptical. Then I saw the trailers and the visuals and I am SUPER HOPEFUL! I do hope this movie doesn’t disappoint!
Beauty and the Beast meant a lot to me as a kid and actually made me think that reading was cool! So super SUPER excited about B&B!
I won advance screening tickets for Before I Fall from The Ripped Bodice, so I dragged my husband with me to see this in Marina del Rey! I was a little underwhelmed (full review soon) and I can’t help but compare it to If I Stay, which I absolutely loved.
I also saw The Lego Batman Movie, which was okay. There were a few laughs but I think the novelty wore off for me. I really enjoyed The Lego Movie, which was really, really good.
I didn’t really see a ton of movies this month, unlike last month’s craziness.
One of the surprises that I saw was The People v. O.J. Simpson. I mean WOW! No wonder they received so many awards this year. Also, I binged watched this sh*t within 24 hours! I mean, If I didn’t start watching the first episode at 8 pm that night, I would have binged this in one day – it was that amazing! I loved the acting and the fast paced storyline.
The Seven Deadly Sins Season 2 is now on Netflix! I am super excited about this because Pierre and I absolutely love this show. However, I do have short term memory because I couldn’t remember what happened during season 1! So yeah, we are currently rewatching this.
And still on my choice for background noise is Criminal Minds. This series still amazes me and I love watching it while being a tad bit distracted as I blog. I mean, all the gory and scary crimes in this series would probably scare the daylights out of me. In fact, I have been creeped out multiple times where I had to turn off the TV and watch a Disney movie.
I need to see Hidden Figures, but I still haven’t and I feel so, so bad for myself. I will probably wait for streaming if I won’t be able to see it in the theater.
Okay, so my question will have to be this: DO YOU HAVE ANY FANTASY book recs? Because I need ONE ASAP! You may choose from this list, too!

I didn’t read any books for Flights of Fantasy for the month of February. LOL. I need to step it up this month. Let’s see, some of my favorite fantasy books are …I really liked Touch of Power, Poison Study, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Shadow and Bone, Unearthly, Walk the Earth a Stranger, Splintered, and The Winner’s Curse, and the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Hope this helps! 🙂
Oh, I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I still need to read the 2 books in that series! For some reason, I am having a hard time starting book 2! 🙂 Also The Winner’s Curse series was amazing!
Fever series… hmmm… I may start reading it… not sure about the blurb
Okay, some fantasy book ideas. Well, from your list of TBR books I suggest The Wrath and the Dawn as well as Grave Mercy. The Bear and the Nightingale. The Elementals series by Michelle Madow is a good one. Martina Boone’s Heirs of Watson Island series has a little bit of magic and supernatural parts. Have you read Poison Princess by Kresley Cole? That’s a few, not sure what all you have and have not read. Hope I’ve helped a little! Also, Entangled Teen is doing a big promo for their Urban fantasy vs. Epic fantasy authors, I’ve added that link below this comment so you can check it out! Within the groups I was a fan of My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century and True Born.

Thanks for the recs, Lisa! I want to read The Wrath and the Dawn and Grave Mercy sooo much!
With Grave Mercy, I listened to the audio which really sucked because I didn’t really like the narrator.. haha
I can’t suggest A Darker Shade of Magic enough — if you want creative worldbuilding and great character development, that’s a great book to get into. And now the whole series is released! Yay! 🙂 Also, if you haven’t read Six of Crows yet, I HIGHLY suggest that one. Ink & Bone by Rachel Caine is also REALLY good (it’s borderline fantasy, mostly dystopian, so some folks may not count it as fantasy, but I do — it has fantasy aspects).

I have read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom… VERY GOOD!!!
Also, I have heard A LOT of AMAZING things about ADSoM! So I may add that to my list as as well!
I really want to try reading one of Lisa Klaypa’s books! I Or any historical romance for that matter. I also think that I must have read Better when he’s bad at some point but, it completely skipped my mind. My curiousness is definitely peaked so, I’ll have to check it out. I visited your list and I would definitely recommend Grave Mercy! One of my favorites. The Darkest Part of the Forest was also very enjoyable. I’m actually thinking about picking up A Darker Shade of Magic this month so, fingers crossed, it’ll be as good as everyone says! I would also recommend Graceling and Uprooted, if you haven’t read them already!

I read Graceling and OMG so GOOOOOD!!! I will try Uprooted, though! 🙂 Thanks for the recs, Elena!
Definitely check out A Darker Shade of Magic! I just finished Traitor to the Throne and enjoyed it, so if you haven’t started Rebel of the Sand, it’s a pretty good fantasy series! And yes to Promise of Fire!
I’m so excited for Beauty and the Beast! And the Lego Batman Movie looks so cute! And I can’t believe they made Before I Fall into a movie, I loved that book way back when, haha. Happy reading!
I have heard a lot of good things about Rebel of the Sands so I just might add that to my overflowing TBR! Right now, I am super fixated on HR that I can’t read any other genre!!
Also… Before I Fall movie wasn’t as great as I hoped it would be… sigh*
oh it looks like you had a wonderful month in February!!! So many good books read. I think its safe to say that Devil in Spring was THE book of not only the month but the year and its only beginning. Honestly its the one book if I had to choose that I have most look forward to especially when we heard it would involved Sebastian and Evie. Anywho….so Fantasy Recs? I so can recommend some. Tairen Soul series by C.L. Wilson, Radiance by Grace Draven, Merlin’s Legacy by Quinn Taylor Evans, and one of my favorites Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan. Let me know if you need more hehe

Ohh thanks!! I definitely need MOAR! I will be going on vacation so I will need more reads!!!
Also, did you read the sneak peak for those who pre-ordered Devil in Spring??!! OMG! Dr Garrett Gibson’s story is going to be AWESOME!
Have you read Neal Shusterman’s Unwind Series yet? It’s fantastic! (If you’ve already read it, you should read Scythe—Neal Shusterman is amazing.) I have SO many fantasy recs, since that’s what I read most… The Others series is a must-read (and the last book is coming out this week, so you could binge-read it.) I also HIGHLY recommend Three Dark Crowns (the sequel’s coming out later this year). If you don’t want to commit to a series, you could read The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron. I think there is going to be another standalone sequel, but the book definitely works all on its own. If you want more, let me know!! 🙂

I definitely want more, Nicole!! eeek!! there is just so so so much fantasy recs that I need! 🙂
I’m also excited for Beauty & The Beast. I’m not much of a fairytale person, but the movie looks amazing. I hope you’re having a good March!

Thanks, Aj! 🙂
The Duke and I sounds good, I suggest that one if you haven’t read it 🙂
Since February is the month of love, it’s no wonder you read so much romance. I saw the Beauty and the Beast movie last week and then immediately read Lost in a Book. This was an easy read and quick, entertaining, but not my favorite twist on the fairy tale. The movie had me laughing quite often and I loved the characters, especially LeFue. Did you get to see it?
Yes I saw it! I enjoyed it! I know the animated version will always hold a place in my heart but this version is more adult! I love the romance and the magic and basically everything that was added. There was a lot of nostalgia but it was also fresh enough for me!
If you are still looking for fantasy recommendations check out The Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman. There are currently 3 novels out and the 4th is set to release in November.
