Hubby Reads is a feature where I ask my hubby to share his thoughts on the books that I made him read.
Hubby and I have very different preferences when it comes to reading. While I gravitate to the romance genre, he gravitates towards John Grisham, Robert Ludlum, Dean Koontz and the like. However, there are times where I force make encourage him to read books of my choosing. Well, he simply humors me and despite not liking the genre, he reads them anyway. LOL I’m sure he draws the line to reading books from my favorite genre historical romance but he does read YA books.
This feature is just me forcing convincing my hubby to share his thoughts on my blog. I *guiltily* admit that he has read a few YA books that are STILL on my TBR pile.
This week, I casually mentioned to him that I already bought tix for DIVERGENT which will be showing on the 21st. Because he does doesn’t have a choice (yes, I AM going to watch 300 with him…gah!) he decided to read it before seeing the movie. Mind you, I had to coax him to share his thoughts so expect his answers to be … less wordy. LOL
What did you think about the book?
It was okay, boring at times. The story was easy to follow but it felt one-dimensional because it mostly focused on Tris. I wanted to know more about the other characters.
I thought it lacked romantic development and it felt like a typical love story: hate each other/can’t live without each other. Thought the love story was not believable because it had a love at first sight theme.
What did you think about the characters?
Nothing really. The character that stood out for me was Tori.
Do you hate me for forcing you to read this book?
I don’t really have a choice, do I? I do like the genre.
How will you rate this book?
It’s OK. No violent reactions here.
There you have it! Hubby’s short review for DIVERGENT. I just want to make a side comment that I think the reason he likes Tori is because she does tats. LOL
This post also reminds me that I have yet to do a review of this book. So, watch out for my review soon!
*Update: I watched 300: Rise of an Empire with him last night and I actually enjoyed it. Sure, it was full of blood and gore and flying body parts but I actually enjoyed it.
