It’s been an eventful couple of years, hasn’t it? Well, life happened and I had to step away from blogging, and for the last year stopped posting on my social media accounts (for the most part). While I was still here lurking, I just had to take a break.
Life Happens
Obviously, a lot of things happened just in 2022 alone. First, I got COVID. And now, I have the worst strain of flu that I’ve ever had – I’m still currently sick. So yeah, 2022 was not uneventful.
In late 2021, I started a new job and that took a bit of an adjustment. Also, I started right around the time COVID spiked, so that was a busy time for me. Believe me, I had a lot of late night hours working.

We also had an unplanned trip to the Philippines last August because of a family emergency. That really took a lot out of us.
All in all, I decided that I needed a break. I was lurking here and there. Tried to make a comeback, but it didn’t work out as I’d hoped.
Change is a good thing

I’ve you’ve noticed, I’ve had a little bit of a rebranding. I decided to add And Other Things to my blog name because I wanted to incorporate the other things I am passionate about. Although, this blog will still primarily be a romance review blog, I will add a few non-bookish things here and there.
I’ve also had to move blog hosting companies this year. Unfortunately, my blog images did not seamlessly transfer out so now I will need to fix all of my posts. SIGH. In the meantime, you’ll see some posts that are wonky with no images while I go and update each post one by one. I’ve started with a few newer posts and review posts. Since the review posts have been the easiest to fix, you see those get updated first.
What I’ve been up to
Just because I have been silent on the social media front doesn’t mean I have not been reading! I’ll be posting my annual reading stats this week, so keep an eye out for it!
All I can tell you is that while I have not been reading a lot this year, I finally read The Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. I don’t know what I’ve been doing with my life because this series is just amazing! I think this book needed to be read during the right mood for me because I did not enjoy A Hunger Like No Other at all even though I read it 3 times! However, I picked up Dark Needs as Night’s Edge first and got hooked! Yes, I did not read this series in order at first but I guess that was what it took!
While monster romance was all the rage, I still have quite a hard time getting into this genre.
What to expect
While I can’t promise you that I’ll be posting as regularly as I used to, I will try my very best to post at least once every week. I will also be looking at the types of features that I have and evaluate to see if it will make the cut for the year 2023. I will try to make realistic goals this time and just see where it goes!
