MY THOUGHTS
Hallowed, the second book in the Unearthly series picks up right after the first book, Unearthly end. I was really surprised (in a good way) that I really loved this book. Okay, so there IS a sort of love triangle BUT I love how Clara was NOT professing her [spoiler]love for Christian when she finds out that Christian is an Angel-blood and that they are supposedly meant to be.[/spoiler] So yes, I really loved that Clara was acting like a normal teenager in a sense that she was rebelling her purpose.
In this book, we get to know the major characters more: Tucker, Wendy, Christian, Jeffrey and even Samjeeza. There are also secrets that are revealed (shocking ones but I shouldn’t have been shocked by it) and more of Clara’s purpose is revealed.
One of the things that I really like about this book is that we are being asked to question the evilness of the Black wing Samjeeza. Yes, he is evil but he also shows another side of him that I did not expect in this book. Another thing that I liked about it is that despite a few more biblical references, it is still not preachy. We are still being shown Clara’s indecisiveness and just her being a teenager.
However, despite really enjoying this book, I had a few questions/issues that I just could not get past. First: Jeffrey’s purpose. He is supposed to [spoiler]start the forest fire and save Tucker.[/spoiler] But is that it? Is there no other purpose for him? I have already read the third book and this is one of my issues because this will not be answered in that book as well. Second: I feel like the purpose is centered on CLARA only. Like even Jeffrey’s purpose depends on Clara’s, more so Christian’s. I just can’t understand why they don’t have their own purpose that is unrelated to Clara’s.
I really gave this book 5 hearts because it was just so unexpected and because of Clara’s actions.
THOUGHTS ON THE AUDIO
Narrator: Samantha Quan
As I’ve mentioned in my previous review, Samantha Quan was superb in this reading. I was able to relate to the characters (especially Clara) more because of her voice. Her pacing was perfect and I didn’t have any problems following on with the story.

WHY I WANTED TO RE-READ
Because I wanted to read the final book Boundless. I was already in the 5th chapter of Boundless when I decided to re-listen to the whole series again!
HOW I FELT AFTER RE-READING
I did not change the rating for the book. I gave it 5 hearts and I am still giving it 5 hearts.
