It’s almost the end of July and I’m here to share my favorite reads in 2019 so far! This year has been a whirlwind for me, with a lot of slumps and burnouts! This time last year, I had more favorite reads. Unfortunately, I don’t have as many 5-star reads, at this time.
I would also like to add that I am including books that I read for the first time this year even if they were previously published. For a complete list of all my favorite reads, please visit my recommendations page. I have separated them by main genres: adult, new adult, young adult.
More than Words by Mia Sheridan
More than Words review
This book broke me!
It’s been a while since I ugly cried and this book tore me to shreds! More than Words broke me just in the prologue! I tell you, I have not cried this much since a few months ago!
The City of Brass & Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty
City of Brass review
What an amazing debut!
When Avon asked if anyone would be interested in reviewing The Kingdom of Copper, I decided to request it know that it was book 2. I was planning to get book 1 myself until I received m book mail and discovered that they included all two books.
Let me tell you, requesting this book was NOT a mistake! The City of Brass was not something that I expected but it really surprised me in the best way possible! The City of Brass is S.A. Chakraborty’s adult fantasy debut and I was blown away by how amazing it is!
Butterface by Avery Flynn
I LOLed while listening to the audio!
Butterface is such a charming book that I can’t recommend it enough! It’s sweet and touching and it had literally had me laugh out loud! Yes, it was that funny!
Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Kiss an Angel review
A classic emotional romance that tore me to shreds!
Kiss an Angel is probably one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read or listened to. WOW. The romance was really good, but the character development was stellar and it actually jumps at you without you realizing that you have been captivated by each of the unique and interesting characters!
Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan
Long Shot review
Emotional, shocking, and the HEA is satisfying!
I was very hesitant to read Long Shot because of the subject. Yes, this book has trigger warnings for anyone who has experienced abuse because this book deals with it point-blank. I think that is what makes this book a riveting read and ultimately what made the HEA very, very satisfying.
Also, Kenndy Ryan won a RITA for this book and is the first African American RITA winner! Congratulations, Kennedy!
Grip & Still by Kennedy Ryan
Grip & Still review
Heart wrenching and current.
I’ve had Flow and Grip on my Kindle since September of last year and I can’t believe I waited till now to read it! I binged this trilogy last month and I still can’t get over it! In fact, I went ahead and read the Soul series and I still can’t get enough!
Kennedy Ryan’s writing is so riveting! The way she chooses the words captured me from page 1! And as I’ve said it before, I am not a fan of slow-burn romances or novellas, but Kennedy Ryan has changed me in that aspect!
Fated by Rebecca Zanetti
Fated review
I am TOTALLY addicted to this world!
Fated really captured my attention from page 1. That opening scene alone was a little bit scary and definitely thrilling! The scene does look like Talen abducted Cara, however, the heroine’s daughter Janie, was able to allay her fears because she is psychic!
Fix Her Up by Tessa Bailey
Fix Her Up review
We seriously need a clown in our life!
This book is absolutely glorious! Picture a birthday clown heroine and a retired baseball player with a touch of hate-to-love and you have this AMAZING book!
I have to tell you that I had second thoughts mainly because of the cover. The cover screams women’s fiction or at least something that isn’t too steamy. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised that this book has the Tessa Bailey steaminess and dirty-talking hero!
That’s not the only reason why I love this book so much! It has a kinda coming of age with awesome character arcs and character development!
I met Tessa Bailey last Saturday at The Ripped Bodice!
And I also have a giveaway going on my Instagram for a signed copy of Fix Her Up!
What are your favorite reads so far in 2019?
Have you read any books on my list?
What do book do you recommend I read before the end of the year?
I started Fix Her Up and couldn’t get into it. Maybe I will pick it up again and be in the right mood for it. I read SEP’s Chicago Stars series straight through this year, but haven’t read Kiss an Angel, but it’s on my TBR shelf! I just got Butterface at the Literacy signing in NY, so I got to meet Avery Flynn in person. So sweet! I have been doing a ton of rereads, but for favorite books not previously read, I will go with The Game Plan by Kristen Callihan, Devil’s Daughter by Lisa Kleypas, Pride Prejudice and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev, The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary and The Bride Test by Helen Hoang.
I still need to read Pride an Prejudice and other Flavors!!! I LOVE SEP so much! I need to read other backlist books!
These do look like interesting books for sure!

It is!! I highly recommend it! Fantastic world-building!
All of these look sooo fantastic. I’m excited to get to Fix Her Up. Hopefully soon!! That synopsis sounds so promising and I’ve been anticipating it so long. Also, side note, I will never not swoon over that cute cover design. It’s so pretty.
Oh! And Kennedy Ryan is an author I’ve been itching to give a go.

I highly recommend Fix Her Up and Kennedy Ryan’s books! Long Shot it so good but comes with trigger warnings.
I got to meet S.A. Chakraborty earlier in the year and she was so lovely that I wanted to read her books immediately. Of course, as with most books on my TBR, I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I think Red, White, & Royal Blue is my ultimate favorite so far this year. I’ve had other books that I’ve enjoyed and given 5 stars to, but RW&B somehow still remains in its own category of perfection!
