Top Three Tuesday is my spin on Top Ten Tuesday hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
It’s no secret that I started reading romance – historical romance, in particular – when I was about 11 years old. I first picked Harlequin Historicals and then discovered even more old-school romances and I was hooked!
Here are some of my favorites from when I was in high school!

First Published January 1994
Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas
Why I Love This
Ah, there are so many things to love with Dreaming of You. This is the first historical romance where both heroine and hero were non-aristocrats!
Not only that, Sara saved Derek when he was attacked in an alley at night! This book is just amazing even after multiple rereads!

First Published January 1992
Lions and Lace by Meagan McKinney
Why I Love This
Lions and Lace was the first Gilded Age romance that I read and it’s still the best even after multiple rereads!
This marriage of convenience, enemies-to-lovers, and social class disparity romance ticked all my boxes! Plus, Trevor Sheridan is dreamy!
FYI: This book is available on KU and Audible Escape!

First Published June 1986
A Battle for Love by Cynthia Wright
Why I Love This
I remember reading A Battle for Love when I was a senior in high school and man this was epic!
I love the court intrigues, the deception, and the mystery! And this book is also set in France and England!
What attracted me first was the cover! This cover is AMAZING! But seriously, there is just no battle or war in this book!
Tropes: Arranged Marriage, Forbidden Romance
Honorable Mentions

Fair is the Rose by Meagan McKinney
Lady of Conquest by Teresa Medeiros
Scarlet Woman by Louisa Rawlings
