I hard a time getting into this book. Unfortunately, I haven’t been following the Maiden Lane series and with this being the 12th book in the series, I felt a little bit lost. I have only read a few books in this series and the one I recently read was Darling Beast, the 7th book in the series and it was amazing!
That said, I still enjoyed Duke of Desire. I think it wraps up the series pretty nicely and I say this even though I haven’t read the previous books in the series.
I’m also a sucker for scarred heroes and heroes with baggage and Raphael de Chartres, Duke of Dyemore is one such hero. Oh man, the angst! Elizabeth Hoyt does a good job with this!
Iris is also a unique heroine in a sense that she is a damsel in distress but she is also a strong woman.
I definitely love the romance between Iris and Raphael. It was unconventional but I could not help but root for the both of them.
I fully enjoyed Duke of Desire even if I didn’t read the previous books but it did feel that there was something lacking.
I recommend reading the other books in the series before diving into Duke of Desire.
Have you read the Maiden Lane series? Which book is your favorite and which one should I read first?
