Sharing my thoughts on this weeks’ reads
Hello, Wormies! Welcomes to the very first Currently Reading blog post this year! I have been in a semi-binge reading fest over the holidays and now, I have started to slow down. Also, my short vacation is over and I have to work so… #adulting
So let’s take a look at what I’ve been reading this year. I actually promised myself to read historical romances first for the Historical Romance Reading Challenge but I’m just not feeling it, unfortunately.
I put 4 books on hold 2 weeks into January! This does not bode well for me because THREE are historical romances! And we all know that one of my challenges this year is to read more historical romances. I find this really frustrating because I am really trying my best to read more historicals this year. Sigh* It does seem that the world is against me, for now.
- A Scot in the Dark – I read about 6 chapters when I just could not stand it. I will probably read this book later, though.
- Between the Devil and the Duke – I also put this down because I really didn’t connect to the story.
- From London with Love – I picked this book because of the catchy 007 title (From Russia with Love), but I didn’t like the hero. So, he kidnaps his ex-fiance on her wedding day to another man because he sees an assassin out to kill her. I personally would have wanted HIM to be the assassin trying to woo her! haha
- Under the Wire – I know this is the 4th book in the series, but this also reads as a stand alone. So I was pretty confused with the plot and the storyline. I was already reading Chapter 6 and I was still confused! Ack!
Midnight Action is a reread (OMG! This book is just amazing, I reread it within a week!) and I just finished reading Midnight Captive on the first. I read The Duke on the first as well, but I was sorely disappointed. My review will be up in a couple of weeks.
Do you ever get really frustrated when it seems like every book you’re reading doesn’t really capture your interest?
#adulting kinda sucks, doesn’t it? At least I think so. 🙂 The holidays are great for reading fests. I want to read Gemina soon it’s been out for a while but I haven’t gotten there yet.

Sometimes you’re just not in the mood to read a certain type of book and you can’t force it. Hope your reading looks up soon!

I know what you mean, Nicole! Sometimes I do force myself to read as much as I can but most of the time, it just doesn’t work!
