Sharing my thoughts on this weeks’ reads
Happy Sunday, Bookworms! Today, I’m showing you a few books I’m currently reading and those that I just finished! OMG, I read a LOT in the last couple of weeks, and most of them were very much enjoyable!
Also, it has been over two weeks since I posted this feature so be prepared to be bombarded with a lot of book recs! I joined two readathons (A-Z Diverse Readathon, Make Me Read It Readathon) so this explains all the reading.
SHADOW AND BONE by Leigh Bardugo (Young Adult Fantasy)
I just started rereading this last night so I can finally finish this series! I honestly haven’t! The reason why I wanted to reread this is because I just finished reading Six of Crows (OMG AMAZINGNESS!).
MY FAIR PRINCESS by Vanessa Kelly (Adult Historical Romance)
I am reading this in between books (mostly at night) for a blog tour. AND I also need another historical romance in my life!
STARFLIGHT by Melissa Landers (Young Adult Science Fiction)
OMG, this book! THE BANTER IS A-FREAKING-MAZING! It also reminds me of Star Wars Han and Leia! I had to stop reading it so I can do the Make Me Read It Readathon, but I’m definitely continuing it!
RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL by Dahlia Adler (New Adult Contemporary)
I am currently reading the second book in the Radleigh University series and it’s a second chance romance! YAY! I also had to stop reading this so I can do the Make Me Read It Readathon.
FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell (New Adult Contemporary)
This book had me wrapped in comfy feelings. PLUS THE FEELS! This also reminded me of my freshman year in college!
CUT by Emily Duval (Adult Contemporary Suspense)
Cut is about recovering missing diamonds and a lot of family drama. Not a lot of romance, though so I was a little bit disappointed.
DARK LOVER by J.R. Ward (Adult Paranormal Romance)
I know I’m a little late in the paranormal vampire craze BUT since this is a popular series, I decided to try listening to it and form my own opinion. I actually enjoyed it! It’s chock full of interesting characters, too.
THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN by Roshani Chokshi (Young Adult Fantasy/Mythology)
This book is just full of AWESOMENESS! I love this book so much! I love that it has a combination of Indian and Greek mythology and is basically a retelling of Hades and Persephone!
LAST WILL & TESTAMENT by Dahlia Adler (New Adult Contemporary)
I really LOVE this book! Also, it is a diverse book with a beta hero! I’m not a fan of beta heroes but this one made me fall in love with one! I really enjoyed it.
A GENTLEMAN NEVER TELLS by Eloisa James (Adult Historical Romance)
I enjoyed this short novella. It is such a quick read but very well done! Also second chance romance!
ALL CHAINED UP by Sophie Jordan (Adult Contemporary Romance)
Where do I begin? I LOVE THIS BOOK! REALLY! Plus, I like the parallels to my own romance, well sort of. *wink I was really surprised that I loved All Chained Up because I’m not really into contemporary romance. I also read this because I am part of the tour in the second book, Hell Breaks Loose, so I decided to read this book. I HAVE NO REGRETS!
A TALE OF TWO LOVERS by Maya Rodale (Adult Historical Romance)
This was my palette cleanser. I mostly listened to this during my commute to and from work and I just love reading about working girls in the Regency. This one features Lady Julianna who writes a gossip column AND writes about the activities of our hero, Lord Roxbury.
HELL BREAKS LOOSE by Sophie Jordan (Adult Contemporary Romance)
THIS book made me cry. Although I loved All Chained Up, this was the book that made me cry. To be fair, I was reading this while I was listening to All Chained Up. This is also a First Daughter story and an escaped convict! Don’t get me wrong, I had qualms at first but Jordan wrote it really well.
SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo (Young Adult Fantasy)
I don’t know why it took me THIS LONG to read this book. I mean, this book is GENIUS! I LOVE the multiple POVs, I love each of the six main characters. OMG and Matthias! Plus, I love that this team doesn’t trust each other! And the romance is subtle and very satisfying! (I will definitely be telling Pierre to read this)
CINDER by Marissa Meyer (Young Adult Fairy Tale Retelling)
I read this ALL day yesterday because the nostalgia! I’m planning to reread the whole series again!
TALK SWEETLY TO ME by Courtney Milan (Adult Historical Romance)
I only placed one book on hold in the last couple of weeks. Talk Sweely to Me had promise and I love the premise because the heroine is a POC and is a math genius, but the first couple of chapters didn’t really hook me as I hoped. I may revisit this soon.
How was your week (or last couple of weeks)? Have you read any good books lately?
Yay, so glad you enjoyed Six of Crows! I am curious to see what you think of the conclusion to the Shadow & Bone trilogy. Personally, I loved it. 😀
Renu recently posted…A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir
My husband actually read all 3 already and he said it was good! So, I’m pretty excited to reread Shadow and Bone and finish the whole series… I believe it’s been two years since I last read it. 🙂
