Sharing my thoughts on this weeks’ reads
Whew! Yesterday was a craaazy day for me. What with the rain and me traipsing around USC for the LA Times Festival of Books – it was pouring people! Anyway, I’m still alive which means I am not a witch! XD
The last couple of weeks has been pretty okay, reading wise. I did really well in finishing a few books that were disappointments, but I had have a hard time following through on the books I listed on my TBR for a certain challenge! Now, it’s almost mid-month and I am still, STILL not able to finish at least 1 of the 6 books I planned to read! BAAAAHHH. #epicfailureasareader
THE CROWNS GAME by Evelyn Skye (Young Adult Fantasy) – I’m only a few pages in since a few days ago because I can’t seem to keep my eyes open. And it’s not because the book is boring, but I’m just really exhausted! Plus, it’s my birthday week, so…. am I forgiven?
THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE by Sarah J. Maas (Young Adult Fantasy) – Eeeep I KNOW! I just finished reading novella #1 and I love Sam and Celaena’s relationship! I mean, I am a sucker for the love at first hate type of trope so I’m excited to read more!
THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE by Heidi Heilig (Young Adult Fantasy) – This was a surprise for me because I have not heard any buzz about this book. However, the title really called to me so I purchased this from audible. It was surprisingly good and I enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to book number 2!
SCANDAL TAKES THE STAGE by Eva Leigh (Historical Romance) – I finally finished this book! It has been on my on-hold shelf for almost a year now! Eeeep! This time, I picked the audiobook version and I was able to finish it! Unfortunately, this was a disappointing read for me.
FORTUNE FAVORS THE WICKED by Theresa Romain (Historical Romance) – Finished my first ever Theresa Romain book…WHAT?! Yep, I haven’t read a single Theresa Romain book ever! I enjoyed this book but it didn’t wow me as much as I hoped I would!
THE WINNER’S KISS by Marie Rutkoski (Young Adult Fantasy) – OMG DISAPPOINTED! I just finished this book today and I am just….AAAAHHH I don’t know what to say because I LOVE the first 2 books of the series!!
THE NAME OF THE WIND by Patrick Rothfuss (Young Adult Fantasy) – At the recommendation of Annika @ Hiding Books, I borrowed the audiobook from the library. Unfortunately, I could not follow the story at all. I’m planning to check out the physical book so I can read it instead.
STORMDANCER by Jay Kristoff (Young Adult Steampunk Fantasy) – At this moment, I have other pressing books that I need to read ASAP so I am putting this book on hold for now.
LADY MIDNIGHT by Cassandra Clare (Young Adult Urban Fantasy) – I believe I’m in Chapter 15-ish (?) and I’m not feeling it! Plus, this book is a MONSTER! I mean, it’s HUGE! And I just can’t… I don’t know… umphhfftt. I had it signed yesterday, though.
THE ART OF TAMING A RAKE by Nicole Jordan (Historical Romance) – This is another book I am putting on hold for now due to the amount of books that I have to read ASAP. Eeep! I’m getting buried alive BY BOOKS!!
How has your week been? Any new books I should know about? Any book from the on-hold pile I should read ASAP? Are you like me who can’t seem to follow a list?! Any tips? Tricks? Suggestions? Honestly, I’d take any suggestion right now!
The Crown’s Game!!!!! I want.
And I want to read about Sam and Caleana too now!
It does sound like you’re getting buried alive under mountains of books! Waahh I can’t stick to lists either. It’s sad!
And the festival of books sounds like it would be pretty awesome even if it was pouring!
Annika @ Hiding Books recently posted…the Sunday Post: in which I actually have no idea what day it is
It didn’t rain on Sunday…and I listened in on a panel with Marie Lu, Ransom Riggs, Sarah Rees Brennan, Victoria Aveyard..no signing tho b/c the line was crazzzzyyy…so I skipped that!
SAM AND CELAENA THO!!!!
I hope you love The Crown’s Game! I’m having a hard time reading my current book too, and for the same reason – I just can’t seem to keep my eyes open at night to read!
