Bookish updates in the last 2 weeks
Happy Sunday, Wormies. It’s some really crazy times we are having right now. It feels like we are in the movies, you know?
To all the first responders and essential workers, we thank you so much for your sacrifice and for what you are doing right now. I hope everyone is doing their part in helping flatten the curve and stopping the spread of the virus. Even though you think that you are not affected or it will not affect you, do your part for the others that are vulnerable.
I’ve also been in contact with my family in the Philippines. I’m really grateful that technology has advanced to the point where we can actually see and speak to our loved ones even though they’re in different countries.
With all the things happening, I’m really privileged enough to be able to work from home. Pierre has to work, though.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to concentrate enough to finish a book! I thought I would have enough time to read after work since I’m not even driving, unfortunately, it’s just not happening. I have been watching reruns of The Masked Singer, though. And I will be streaming the new Emma, Birds of Prey, and Onward soon.

How are you handling sheltering in place?
What books are you reading right now? Are you even able to read?

Everything you said! I’m so thankful for those who don’t have a choice in whether or not they work right now!
My life is actually pretty much the same as it was. I’m a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom so, our lives haven’t been interrupted very much. Which makes me thankful, but I feel for others’ whose lives have been turned upside-down; due to sickness or loss of job…
I’m like you–I haven’t been able to concentrate much on reading. It’s like, I could use the distraction, but I just can’t get into a book very well right now.
You’ve got some great reads here! I’m really wanting to read Reborn Yesterday. 🙂
Hope you’re staying safe and healthy, love!

Yes, absolutely! I prefer to stay in anyway but this is still crazy! Plus there is a lot of politicking and misinformation going around it’s ridiculous!
I’m glad you are able to connect with your family overseas. Thats so helpful! Hopefully Pierre stays healthy! My hubby is still working right now as well. I taught from home all week. It worked pretty well actually!
Stay healthy!

Stay healthy, Sam! I want to hear about how you’ve been teaching from home! That sounds fascinating to me!
It can definitely be difficult to concentrate on reading at the moment. I’m so consumed with school work that I’m only really reading on the weekends at this point. I’m reading a lot of romance now, since I find those books are super helpful in making me feel less stressed. There’s something about watching two characters fall in love that I find very soothing.

I know what you mean, Malka! When I was still in college, I could only read on the weekends – sometimes in the evening but the last 3 years of nursing school for me was crazy!
