Bookish updates in the last 2 weeks
How has the week been treating you? I’ve been a bit busy with the #nameathon challenge hosted by Under the Covers Book Blog and Ideally Inspired Reviews and while I enjoyed the week, I basically only finished one book for this challenge! I even picked really easy reads (well, one is a longer book) and I still couldn’t catch up! This year is really not the year of reading for me.

I haven’t been stressing out this week and I actually baked a cake! I made choco flan and it turned out amazing and delish (if I say so myself haha). What is choco flan, you ask? Well, basically it’s a cake with flan on top! I brought it to a party last Saturday where I hung out with a few friends from high school. It was fun and we had a lot of food!
On another happy and exciting note, my cousin just had her twin boys! I am so living vicariously through her because ya know, issues! They are too adorable for words! And how cute are their names?! I’m probably going to meet them next year when I visit my hometown. I know, sadly my family is in the Philippines so I can’t really see them all the time.
Playing with Trouble came highly recommended, but I just couldn’t get into it. I really liked the build-up and the chemistry between the two MCs, but the first part was draaaaging too much! They finally hooked up about 60%-ish but the prior to that, the story dragged a bit. Not sure I will read the first and second book.

Are you ready for fall?
What are your go-to spooky reads for Halloween?

I loved Truth or Beard! Just finished Beauty and the Mustache, the book before that one – my 3rd time reading. How to Love a Duke is on my GR currently reading list, as I won it from GR. I am not a fan of Spooky books, but I did love a ghost novella by Katherine Ashe called Captive Bride. https://katharineashe.com/books/captive-bride/
I think I remember that ghost novella. Kaherine Ashe is a hit or miss for me and I don’t think I read a lot of her books. LOL I was meh about Truth or Beard and I will be reviewing it next week!
Mateo is one of my favorite names!! Congrats to your cousin. Enjoy your reads!

Thank you, Sam!
I haven’t baked in a while, but I usually get the baking bug in fall or winter so hopefully I get inspired!
Your nephews are soo cute! I personally think they’ll be more fun when they’re one years old. ?
YES!!! I hardly bake but I just got a new recipe book from Grand Central Pub so I might try that one!
