Life stories from the blogger
Hello, wormies! I bet you were wondering where I disappeared to? Well, I was actually ehemm on vacation in my hometown, Dumaguete City, in the Philippines.
Why wasn’t I blogging? Well, I planned on blogging while I was on vacation but my plan did not pan out as well as I expected it to. I mean, I just realized that I NEVER updated my internet plan since I was in college, which was roughly 10 years ago. WHAT?!! Yep, I just didn’t think about it and so, the internet was crawwwwwling.
On another note, I celebrated my 30-something birthday there after not celebrating it at there for a number of years. In true bookish fashion, I had a Harry Potter themed dessert table that I set-up myself! Of course, I did not bake the cake. LOL

I also attended my cousins’ wedding. Apparently, I had a role in the entourage. *wink
My cousin is the groom.
And my cousins who are like my sisters <3
I also managed to get Pierre to wear a suit.
We didn’t do a lot of touristy things when I went home, though. I also got sick the last week I was there so that is my excuse! And yeah, I still haven’t downloaded the few photos I took there. Sigh*
I met a few of my friends, though! It was fun catching up with them. Plus, some of them already have kids! 🙂
One of the things I noticed is that my hometown has changed A LOT since I last visited three years ago. I feel like it’s NOT a sleepy University Town anymore and even in the dead of summer, it was PACKED! It used to be really quiet during summer (summer in the Philippines starts in April) and I always loved it. It’s a different story now.
So, while I loved that there is progress in the city, I still wish that it was the same city I remembered growing up in.
Do you ever do touristy things when you visit your hometown? Do you love (or hate) the changes made in your hometown?
Omg that cake is spectacular! And I love weddings 🙂 I moved a lot as a kid but my parents have lived in one of my favorite towns (Laguna Beach) for awhile now, since I was in college, and I absolutely love visiting. We used to go to the beach there when I was younger but it’s fun getting to stay in town now. It doesn’t change a whole lot which I’m grateful for, and I definitely like doing touristy stuff sometimes 🙂 Just being near the ocean makes me happy! I’m trying to get better at doing touristy stuff where I live too, because I figure someday I’ll move and wish I had done stuff. I’ve actually been thinking lately that I want to take my husband to the town I grew up in on the New Jersey shore, and do all of the things/eat at all of the places I loved as a kid but I’m sure it’s SO different now. I haven’t been back in almost 20 years!

WOW! That’s a looooong time! That is an awesome idea, though! It would be great to bring your husband to all your old haunts… haha my husband and I live in the same hometown, so we probably did more or less the same things haha but I DO know that there are many things that we haven’t done and seen yet!
Glad you got to go home for a vacay! And happy belated birthday! The cake looks awesome! Yay for getting to catch up with friends and family, too!
