Happy Tuesday, Wormies! I am making my own theme for today because I don’t read a lot of novellas and I really had a hard time coming up a list for that topic today.
So I decided to list eight of my 5-star reads this year so far! I am only including books published (or will be published) this year, and I am not including rereads to this list.
5-Star Books I’ve Read So Far in 2018
When a Duke Loves a Women by Lorraine Heath
Sins of All Seasons #2 | Pub Date August 21, 2018
When a Duke Loves a Woman is one of my highly anticipated reads for this year and I am so glad I read it waaaay in advance! I will be reviewing this book closer to its release but I can’t recommend this book enough! Picture a kickass woman who owns a bar/pub in St. Giles and a Duke? YAZ QUEEN!
The One You Can’t Forget by Roni Loren
The Ones Who Got Away #2 | Review | Pub Dat June 5, 2018
The One You Can’t Forget was a surprise for me because it was so damn good! I was touched and I cried and OMG, there is food involved! I also loved that it’s the hero who wanted a relationship, while the heroine was the one who refused and had a whole lotta baggage.
Melt For You by J.T. Geissinger
Slow Burn #2 | Pub Date May 15, 2018
I’ve never literally laughed out loud and cried while listening to a book. Melt for You is a freaking awesome read AND listen, of course! Plus, it features an older curvy female and a younger guy. PLUS, it is a slow burn romance, which is another surprise in itself because I don’t really love slow burn romances.
My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan
Standalone | Review | Pub Date April 24, 2018
WOW! This book is awesome! It is very heartwarming and heartbreaking and I was bawling like nobody’s business! If you love a good cry and basically an awesome story, THIS is the book for you. Also, it’s narrated by Julia Whelan!
Recovered by Jay Crownover
Standalone | Review | Pub Date March 24, 2018
I can’t recommend Recovered enough. For most of you who read my review, you will know why. This book really touched me in ways that I didn’t expect to. This is an awesome new adult read and an all-around awesome Jay Crownover book. It is dark, it has angst, and yes, sexy times is smokin’!
Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey
Standalone | Pub Date March 26, 2018
Here’s another Tessa Bailey book that I enjoyed so much! I love, love, LOVE Getaway Girl! It is funny and scandalous and features a dirty talking heroine! This book is set in Charleston and it was an interesting read with a touch of politics and scandal. Also, there is a Christmas decorated apartment that was a safe haven.
Wanderlust by Lauren Blakeley
Standalone | Review | Pub Date March 20, 2018
I was blown away by Wanderlust. I mean, not because it was narrated by Richard Armitage, but because it took me to another world! Wanderlust was an awesome read and I felt that I was in Paris! The romance was top notch and also heartwrenching!
True to You by Jennifer Ryan
Montana Heat #2 | Review | Pub Date February 27, 2018
True to You was the first Jennifer Ryan book I read and I was amazed at how good it is! This was my first 5-star read this year and I immediately read the first book in the series. I love dark romances and this one has it in spades! The hero is undercover and falls for the villain’s daughter!
Have you read any of the books on my list?
What are your favorite 5-star reads so far?
Yeah for 5-star reads. There are two on there – My Oxford Year and The One You Can’t Forget, which I have to read. Color me even more excited that they made this list. I love Loren’s new series!
My Oxford Year is sooooo good! I swear! It’s more like women’s fiction rather than pure romance but the romantic elements are really strong!
Also The One You Can’t Forget is so good! It tore at my heartstrings! Definitely read it and let me know what you think.
So many sexy men. I’m glad you’ve read some great books this year!

I adore Jennifer Ryan, and every book from her I have really enjoyed. And yes this one was a good read for me as well. I can’t wait to read Lorraine Heath’s new book though.

Ohh yes! It is a MUST read! I’m starting to read Jennifer Ryan’s backlist.
♥️ Love your list! Even the Darkest Star is a book I finished recently and loved. Also The Tea Girl From Hummingbird Lane. Great romance as well as about family.
Thanks, Dani! I will check these books out!
