I recently read a bunch of books that I absolutely love the character names! No, these aren’t the fantasy weird names (although I LOVE those, too), but these are the common names that I am absolutely in love with!
Holland – Roomies by Christina Lauren
I read Roomies last month and I fell in love with Holland! The name is super cute and it felt fresh! I know it’s a name of a country BUT I LOVE it!
Echo – Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
Who doesn’t want to be named after a Greek nymph? I do! Echo is such a unique name! If I was named Echo, I probably wouldn’t hear the end of the joke echo, echo, echo, echo… you get the picture. But I thought it was a unique name!
Ailish – Raw Redemption by Tessa Bailey
Don’t you just love how the name Ailish rolls through your tongue? I LOVE this unique name! Raw Redemption was one of my favorite books in this Tessa Bailey series and it might be because of the name Ailish! I mean, it sounds so exotic and lovely and girly and mysterious!
Griffin – Wanderlust by Lauren Blakely
Better be Griffyndor! I HAD to do it! Griffin is such an awesome name and I usually see this in historical romance so I was tickled when Griffin is the name of the hero in Wanderlust and I think it is such a dreamy name.
Will – Follow by Tessa Bailey / Will – Our Dark Stars by Audrey Grey & Krystal Wade
If you have been following my reviews on Goodreads or this blog, you would have noticed how much I love the name Will! It has to be Will and not William. I can’t figure out why I like the name Will, but I have since I was in high school? Maybe? Anyway, Follow features a character named Will who owns an adorable dog named Southpaw! Awwwww
Also, another book that features a character named Will is Our Dark Stars! Will is a cyborg/android and such a book boyfriend material!
What are your favorite character names?
Do you love weird and unusual names?
Great list! I see a few books I should be adding to my wishlist, too.
Thanks! Glad to help! 🙂
Echo is such a cool name – I really need to get into this author’s writing, everyone seems to love her!
I enjoyed the first book. It felt real! There are trigger warnings, though.
Holland and Echo are both awesome. 🙂

Yup! I love those names!
I love that you didn’t do fantasy weird names, because I have no idea how to say them. I like Holland and Echo a lot. They are unusual without being strange. A few character names I recently found interesting were: Ever, Zorie, Winnie, and Glory. There are tons more, because YA is stuffed with “interesting” names.
I love the weird names, too! But I already did a list like that a few years ago… LOL
haha guilty! [she raises her hand] I went with ” fantasy weird names” but I have to say they got nothing on these names! I love them! Especially Echo 🙂

I love those weird fantasy names, too! My fave is Ze’ev from The Lunar Chronicles, Wolfe’s Lunar name.
I agree that Will is somehow so much better than William. Weird, right?
