Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Happy Tuesday, Wormies! It’s 2018 and it’s the second week of the year! What better way than to start with resolutions, right? Well, I don’t really like to write about bookish resolutions because I’ve only written two posts about my resolutions, one in 2014 and one in 2016.
I usually don’t make resolutions or goals because I always never meet them! I’m pretty good with challenges but resolutions are not my forte!
Anyway, in the spirit of Top Ten Tuesday and because I seem to write a resolutions post every other year, I will list one this year!
Goal #1: Read 130 books
Last year, I read 142 books which surprised me A LOT since I normally read about 100 books in a year. Well, this year, I decided to increase my reading goal from 100 to 130. It shouldn’t be hard, right?
How I plan to accomplish it: Read more books. Listen to more audiobooks. Also, reread older faves when you get into a book slump.
Goal #2: Meet-up with more romance readers
Last year, I joined an online book club Old School Romance Book Club lovingly called OSRBC and I met a lot of like-minded readers! I haven’t met a lot of readers who love historical romance like I do, so it was such an AWESOME thing to actually talk about historical romance with others who LOVE the genre.
We also met-up in person to discuss books and it was just amazing! This calls for another meet-up!
How I plan to accomplish it: Organize another meet-up!
Goal #3: Limit book buying to a minimum
I wasn’t really tracking the books that I bought last year so I’m not sure how much I spent BUT I know that it was over $100. This year, I want to be very smart in my book buying endeavors. Ha! Hopefully.
How I plan to accomplish it: Actually track the books that I purchase, including their price and shipping cost, if applicable. I will also buy more second-hand books and visit the Friends of the Library booksale so I don’t have to spend full price on books. Since I already borrow books and audiobooks from the Los Angeles Public Library, I will continue to do so.
Goal #4: Read outside my comfort zone
Last year, I read and enjoyed books outside my comfort zone as evidenced by the books that were my faves that I normally don’t read!
How I plan to accomplish it: Actually pick up books that I normally wouldn’t. I still won’t read genres that I refuse to read like horror or suspense, but I will read different romance and YA genres.
Goal #5: Improve my blog content
I am pretty comfortable with my blogging style but I think I can do more. Maybe more discussions topics or come up with a unique feature that is my own.
How I plan to accomplish it: I still have no idea how I will go about it, but I hope it will be soon! I’m looking at doing a once a month feature so as not to pressure me too much!
What are your 2018 bookish resolutions?
Did you meet your 2017 resolutions?
My goal is 130 books this year too, I read mostly YA and MG so I think I want to incorporate more Nonfiction into my reading too. Thanks for sharing your goals!

I hardly read MG anymore and I think the only ones I’ve read recently are those coming out as movies ? Non-fiction is something that I haven’t read and the only one that I picked up was I Kissed Dating Goodbye YEARS ago and it sucked! LOL
You have some great blogging goals. I agree that its hard to find readers that love historical romance like we do.

I know, Renee! That’s why it would be an awesome idea to have a list of adult romance blogs! LOL
oh I already do!! My browser I bookmark blogs that only blog romance, and then I have specific folders for those in my favorite genres including Historical Romance. 🙂

Care to share the list? I have a hard time finding romance blogs! ?
Reading outside our comfort zone is so hard – but so worth it! My TTT
I totally agree! I was VERY lucky last year!
My bookish goals are similar as well! I read only 33 books last year, so I’m hoping to knock down atleast 50+ this year. I don’t know about 100 though, I admire anyone who can read so many books! I love romance, but I feel as though I don’t review it enough on my blog. I plan to do that more this year and want to connect with more romance readers as well. Hopefully, this is my start to meeting and connecting with you! My plan this year for blogging is to go with the flow, and if I don’t feel like reviewing, come up with different content to post in its place. Here’s to both of accomplishing our goals!
Good luck with your reading goals! I think the reason why I reach over a hundred books is that I listen to audiobooks and I listen everywhere because I can multitask. I also read novellas and shorter books so that really helps!
I am also one that goes with the flow. I have a schedule that I try to follow and if I can’t post on a certain day, I just let it go! LOL
Oh good goals!!! I too want to improve my content, so if you come up with some ideas, share with me please 🙂

Thanks, Sam! I’m still thinking of something! My brain doesn’t seem to be working at all! ?
I love spending time commenting in my romance readers groups. I have not been as active as I used to be, blogging takes up a lot of my time, but it was great fun. I am sticking with my strict book buying policy and I am doing a hard push to read my own books. Good luck with all your goals!

I love that, too! But I only have a few hours to comment so I may not comment on as many blogs as I want BUT I try my best! I just hope I won’t blow my book buying goal, though! #fingerscrossed
I also don’t do good with achieving new year resolutions. This year I have decided to simplify my reading and blogging . Last year I felt overwhelmed with work, family and blogging, so this year I want to relax and enjoy reading/blogging. Good luck with your goals!

I don’t pressure myself to blog like others are able to. I also don’t post a lot but I do try to. I’m pretty laid back so I don’t stress out when I won’t be able to blog.
I do enjoy historical romances and like to mix those into my reading every so often. I agree it’s hard to find someone to talk to, when I bring it up with my sister she looks at me funny, because she reads more detective series. Best of wishes on your 2018 goals.
I totally get that! My besties don’t read romance as much as I do and they read a few here and there. I mostly rec them YA 🙂
I’m also hoping to improve my blog content this year too, mostly by writing more book reviews and aiming to post consistently! 130 books is awesome! I’m shooting for 100 books this year, and hoping I can make it. Wishing you the best of luck with your goals this year!
claire @ clairefy
Thanks, Claire! I tend to post 1-2 reviews a week because it doesn’t really get a lot of interaction from bloggers. I will just try my best to come up with bookish discussions! 🙂
Good luck with your goals this year, too!
I actually didn’t meet all my resolutions, so I made my 2018 goals more manageable and measurable. I like all your goals. I don’t think I step out of my comfort reading zone enough, maybe this year I will try some books I wouldn’t normally pick up. Thanks for the inspiration!

You’re welcome, Karen! I find that stepping outside my comfort zone was the best thing that happened to me! I have set some lofty goals in the past and not meet it so I made it really, really simple! LOL ?
Such great goals!!! Good luck with them!

Thanks, Grace!
I didn’t explicitly state it as one of my goals, but I should also go on an extremely limited book buying ban. I’ve significantly cut down in the last couple of years, except when it comes to Texas Teen Book Festival. :/ Good luck with your goals!!
YES! TOTALLY! I think I already spent a lot because I went book buying at a Library Book Sale… although I spent $2 for a full bag of books.. ?
Can you create a feature that spotlights other historical romance blogs?
Good luck reaching your goals!
