Since Top Ten Tuesday is on a short hiatus, I decided to go ahead and just create a TTT post with my own spin!
I have quite a few books on my TBR pile that I NEED to read but I still haven’t read! Like, I NEED to read them ASAP! Also, I’ve seen these books praised A LOT by readers, so I think that I should list them out and hopefully read them before the end of this year!
- A Study in Scarlet Women – I love Sherlock Holmes, so what better way than to retell the Sherlock Holmes and make her into a woman! I have also heard a lot of amazing things about this book, too!
- A Darker Shade of Magic – So many, many LOVE about this book and I still haven’t read it! In fact, it has been recommended by a number of readers. I haven’t read it yeat and this fantasy book is just perfect for the Flights of Fantasy challenge that I am participating this year.
- Scythe – This sounds like a dystopian book that I will like. I haven’t read a lot of dystopian novels now and I think I am over the genre, but Scythe sounds really fresh. Plus, don’t you just love the cover? This cover really made me look twice!
- A Promise of Fire – Ahhhhh romance and fantasy in one amazing book that I haven’t read yet! GAAAAH! I need to read this ASAP!
- The Wrath & the Dawn – I haven’t read this retelling but I have almost read this book multiple times.
- The Darkest Part of the Forest – Another fantasy that came highly recommended. I haven’t read it even though I HAVE the book.
- The Falconer – I also have heard a lot of good things about this book. I also have a copy of it and the sequel, but I still haven’t read it!
- My Fair Assassin – I listened to a couple of chapters on audio but I just wasn’t getting into it so I just had to stop. I need to get a copy soon and read it!
- Forbidden – I have a copy of this book and I still haven’t read it!
- The Duke and I – I have to admit that I still haven’t read a Julia Quinn bool. Like EVER! This needs to change ASAP!
- Across a Star-Swept Sea – After the amazingness that is For Darkness Shows the Stars, I was super excited to read the sequel. I still haven’t even if I was gifted by my #OTSPSecretSister.
- If I Stay – I absolutely LOVED the movie but I haven’t read the book yet. Part of me doesn’t want to read it but I think I should so I can read the sequel.
- The Little Prince – I BAWLED while watching Le Petit Prince and now I am really, really curious!
- Lord of Scoundrels – This is a highly recommended historical romance that I haven’t read. I also received a copy of this book from being an Avon Addict, but I have been dragging my feet.
- Soulless – Another highly recommended book that is both steampunk historical with paranormal elements!
What books have been on your TBR that you need to read ASAP?
Have you read any of the books mentioned here?
Oooh, I’ve actually read some of these! Excitement!
You MUST read A Gathering of Shadows — I loved it, even though I don’t think it was quite as good as book 1. But you have to read it because you MUST get to reading A Conjuring of Light, which I simply can’t put down. SOOOOooooo good!
I just got Scythe, hoping to start it this weekend 🙂 And Amanda Bouchet is on my TBR and I keep meaning to start her books.
The Darkest Part of the Forest and The Falconer were pretty good (YAY FAE!) I recommend having book 2 on-hand or easy to get to when you read The Falconer — it’s a pretty huge (HUGE) cliffhanger.
GREAT list!

Thanks for the recs, Michelle! I can’t wait to read these books! I mean I have been holding off on these for a looooong time already, ack!
YEEEES, definitely check out a Darker Shade of Magic! It’s phenomenal! I love Julia Quinn so I always recommend reading the Bridgertons! Also yes to Promise of Fire, Soulless (so funny!) and Grave Mercy (book 2 Dark Triumph is even better!).
And I need to check out A Study in Scarlet Women, too!
Awesome list, Zeee, hope you get to read these soon!
Thanks for the recs, Cyn!!!! I will definitely take all those into consideration… also… *whispers* for some reason I haven’t really gotten into Julia Quinn’s books… 🙁
